Dorothy Ramon

Serrano is the language of the Maara’yam, also known as the Serrano People. Celebrated elder, Dorothy Ramon, was the last primary Serrano language speaker. Her work lives on in the Dorothy Ramon Learning Center, which preserves and shares cultural knowledge between regional Indigenous Communities. As the last primary Serrano speaker, Ramon's efforts to preserve Serrano language and culture, have been invaluable. We honor her legacy by sharing with you her stories about some of our plants, with permission from the Malki Museum. The stories are presented in Serrano, English, and Spanish.
